Wednesday 31st March 2021
Who would have thought that you would need sun-cream in March?! What a glorious week – not only have we had the sun shining but we have reached the next milestone in lockdown easing. We are now able to see friends and family in our gardens and those who have been shielding are free as of today! Although I’m still eager for that haircut…
However, I’m very aware that we are not yet out of the woods, we have to be cautious and sensible. Many of us are probably feeling anxious, or bruised from everything that we have gone through. Simply put – we’re all in need of a very big hug!
On Sunday, we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. A day where we celebrate that death has been beaten – Jesus has the victory. The same goes for our trials and worries today: we may feel lost or broken but at the end of the day Jesus has won. Jesus took the ugly cross upon himself and through his broken body he brought about life! If there was ever a time to remember that truth, now is the time.
“Death swallowed by triumphant Life! Who got the last word, oh, Death? Oh, Death, who’s afraid of you now?”
(1 Corinthians 15:57, The Message)
I pray that as we celebrate Jesus rising to life, we are able to see through the brokenness and worries, and focus on the beauty and new life Jesus gives to us. His saving grace and unconditional love; His everlasting peace and strength far outweigh what you face today or tomorrow – after all, he defeated death. Happy Easter!
